Mixing FAQ
How long does it take to mix a song?
Mixing a song takes about 4 hours on average. This process involves combining all the individual elements of a song—like vocals, drums, and guitars—adjusting their volumes and making them sound good together. If a song is more complex or has many different parts, it might take a bit longer.
Do I need to attend the mixing session?
While it’s not necessary for you to be present, attending the mixing session is beneficial if you can. It allows you to share your thoughts and preferences in real-time. If you can’t make it, don’t worry—we’ll stay in touch throughout the process to make sure we capture your vision.
Can I just send the tracks and you mix the song for me?
Absolutely! You can send us the individual recordings of your instruments and vocals, and we’ll take care of blending them together. Our goal is to create a polished and cohesive sound for your music.
Can I review the mix for approval?
Yes, after we finish mixing, we’ll send you the song to listen to. This is your chance to hear how everything sounds together. If there’s anything you want to change, we’ll gladly make adjustments to ensure you’re thrilled with the final result.
Do you charge for the mix revisions?
We offer two rounds of revisions at no extra cost. This means that if there’s something specific you want to tweak after hearing the mix, we’ll work with you to make those changes until you’re satisfied.
Can I send my DAW project for mixing?
While we prefer projects created with Pro Tools, we also accept projects from Logic. If you’ve used a different software, let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate. We want to make the process as smooth as possible for you.
Will my mix include mastering?
No, our focus is on making your music sound great during the mixing stage. Mastering is a separate step that comes after mixing. However, we’ll leave enough space in the mix for mastering adjustments if you decide to go for it later.
How should I send my tracks for mixing?
Before sending your tracks, ensure there are no additional effects added. Each part of your song should be at the right volume—not too loud or too quiet. It’s essential that individual tracks do not exceed -6dB peak and -14dB RMS to ensure the best results. Additionally, please send us both the raw (without effects) and processed (with effects) tracks. This dual delivery allows us the flexibility to choose what works best for the mix, ensuring the highest quality outcome for your music.
